For the last 30 years, the Friends of the Lafayette Public Library, a
nonprofit, volunteer organization, has been supporting and promoting the
Lafayette Public Library system, its programs, and its projects by providing
monies for library equipment and by funding projects and performances not
included in the library's operational budget.

Since its inception, the Friends have donated $521,307.96 to the library system. Their
contributions range from supplementing the library's audiovisual collection, to providing display
cases, to funding the annual summer reading program and performers for special literacy events
at all library locations.
The Friends accomplish their goals of supporting and promoting the library by conducting
biannual book sales, hosting an annual Author Dinner, managing the Friends’ Gift Shop, and
sponsoring the Summer Reading Program.

Come visit our new, expanded Perpetual Sale in the Main Library
on Congress. We have added VHS tapes and books on cassette
and CDs, in addition to a great selection of books. Hardbacks
are $3, paperbacks are $1, and tapes are priced from $1 to $5.
