For the last 30 years, the Friends of the Lafayette Public Library, a nonprofit, volunteer
organization, has been supporting and promoting the Lafayette Public Library system, its
programs, and its projects by providing monies for library equipment and by funding projects
and performances not included in the library's operational budget.
Be a Friend!
• A year's free home delivery of the Library's newsletter/calendar "BookTalk," a handy guide to
upcoming events at the library.
• Admission to the highly coveted Friends Night Book Sale where members get first pick of books
and other great items.
• A subscription to the "Between Friends" newsletter, an update of "Friends" activities and
volunteer opportunities at the library.
• The chance to interact with a community of like-minded people who appreciate the importance
of a strong library in the community.
• An opportunity to shape and provide for a public institution that benefits and enriches the
people of Acadiana daily in so many ways.

Since its inception, the Friends have donated $679,655.04 to the library system. Their contributions
range from supplementing the library's audiovisual collection, to providing display cases, to funding
the annual summer reading program and performers for special literacy events at all library
The Friends accomplish their goals of supporting and promoting the library by conducting biannual
book sales, hosting an annual Author Dinner, managing the Friends’ Gift Shop, and sponsoring the
Summer Reading Program.

| Directions for Book Donations
Due to the renovation of the library on Congress Street, book donations will no
longer be accepted at that location. Books can now be brought to the
Library's working warehouse at 211 E. Pinhook Road next to the Habitat for
Humanity Restore. Hours for drop off will be Monday - Wednesday, 11 am
until 2 pm, and Thursday, 9 am until 2 pm. Once at the warehouse, please ring
the doorbell located on the door and a staff member or a Friend will be able to
help. For large donations or for questions, please call 337- 501-9209. We
can only accept gently used books, and due to a lack of space, we are
no longer able to accept textbooks or magazines. Thank you for your
continued support. Without your donations our book sales would not be

The Fall Friends Sale is over. Thanks for your patronage. Look for our next sale
which will be March11 (Friends' night) and March 12-14, which is open to the
